#24

So this is only my second 'today I am wearing post' as they tend to take quite a lot of preparation and time. On top of that, I've become far too comfortable with uploading a poor quality photo of what I'm wearing to my instagram, so I thought it was about time I did a proper post on what I actually wear rather than what I wish I could wear!

So my outfit today is not what you would call 'summery' but then neither is England right now (despite it being the middle of June!) so I guess that's okay. It's pretty basic and verrrry comfy, which is always a bonus when choosing your outfit. I have to say though, getting these leather panelled leggings on really needs to be an Olympic sport! Thank god they're worth the violent struggle!

Leave a comment if you want to know where anything I'm wearing is from by the way (that goes for all posts!). So over the next two weeks or so I'm hoping to do a post on a couple of certain celebrities that I'm admiring at the moment annnnd (if the weather gets better) I will hopefully be bringing a post to you all about my tie dye experience!
Enjoy your weekend

"I put some new shoes on and suddenly everything is right" goes the Paolo Nuntini hit which has been spinning non stop in my head for the last hour since the postman delivered my new midi heels to my door. With a ridiculously daunting maths exam going surprisingly okay, and a school schedule that meant I was home by 11.30, I was already in what you could call, a decent mood and this just topped it off. I ordered these beauties only a few days ago and having had previous scenarios of waiting for over a week for items ordered online, was very proud of my go-to store (ASOS) for getting them to me so quickly!

When I wrote a post a while back about how I'd fallen in love with midi dresses, I hadn't even considered trying out a midi heel, especially as they are so close to 'kitten heel' height (and no one likes a kitten heel!). However, the actual design of the heel is very different. I love the little bit of almost unnoticeable height it adds to your figure (something I could do with) and the nude colour means they'll go with pretty much anything. On top of that, I feel the little strap adds a ladylike, 'cute' look to the shoe while the metallic heel keeps it modern and brave. I'm proud that I've finally built up the courage to buy a pair of shoes I adore despite the fact I haven't seen the style on anyone else yet, as well as the design perhaps being slightly controversial!

#21

Finally, I am back! You would think with it being half term I would have had more time but I've had a super busy week! The first half consisted of attempted revision and the hosting of a party (yay!) and the second half I spent in Eastbourne with my family. If you follow me on instagram, you'll have seen a couple of pictures from the time I spent there, mainly consisting of things I wore and/or bought. However, the quality is pretty terrible and before I went, I took some snaps of a few things I packed (wardrobe wise) to show you:

I spent my time in Eastbourne walking on the beach, dining out, and exploring the local shops amongst other things. The most memorable moment for me was probably visiting 'Beachy head' a notorious suicide spot due to its clean drop and extreme height. It was very windy and quite cloudy the day we went there which added to the eery atmosphere surrounding the cliff. On top of that, as we walked along we saw at least 6 crosses that had been put into the earth with peoples names on (to honour their memory). It was very strange to think that these people had once been stood in the same spot as you about to end their life. The visit proved to be a cultural and thought provoking experience!

On a cheerier note, I made quite a few purchases on my holiday! And, I am proud to say I managed to spend my money on smaller things (something I seem to have a phobia of!) meaning I was able to get things I'd wanted for a long time but had always put off buying in the hope of finding something bigger and in my eyes, better. However in this case, good things really do come in small packages!

So I have finally got round to doing a 'Funny Friday' post again! If you're preparing to go out tonight I'm sure this will get you in the mood, and if you're like me (spending the evening with lee mack on BBC1) this will be sure to liven up your night.
You probably all tuned in to the chaos that is the Eurovision song contest last weekend but I did not, so I was in absolute awe when my brother showed me this video of the Russian entry! I don't think there is anyway you can watch this without it leaving a smile on your face and a flutter in your heart. I mean, who can resist tiny OAP's singing about partying? Happy Friday!

"PARTY FOR EVERYBODY"

I spend quite a lot of time imagining how my life would be different if I were tall, or perhaps even just averagely placed on the height chart. At about 5ft, I am somewhat a midget. While everyone says 'you have plenty of time left to grow!' I panic and wonder if I will have to go out into the adult world as that person who receives a comment such as 'you're so small!' at least once a day. Despite stars such as Kourtney Kardashian and Lady Gaga paving the way for us petite girls, I do (sometimes) wish I was tall. Why am I telling you this? Well I have recently fallen in love with a new style of dress which is pretty much off limits to anyone under 5 ft 3, the midi.

While currently understated as a S/S12 trend, I see it as a rising star that has been residing backstage for too long already. We saw a rise in appreciation for 'bodycon' skirts but as these were usually tiny pieces of flimsy material that clung to your bum like a scared child holding onto its mother, yet hung on the thighs like a limp piece of cloth with no desire to be there, I was not a huge fan.

Recently, this style has been developed with better fittings, patterns and embellishments making me take an entirely new approach to the design. Due to recent developments in the world of fashion I have also found myself falling for a few bodycon dresses, something I had previously eagerly shrugged off after associating them with the likes of Mercedes Mcqueen (Hollyoaks fans will understand!).
However, it is the midi which has really made me fall in love with the boydcon fitting. As its name suggests, it offers a little more coverage in the leg department (great for anyone feeling self conscious about their pins!) while still available in designs that both lack and accentuate cleavage, making them flattering for a lady of any weight!

My picks:

The great thing about the midi is that it's truly versatile because it is just a length. Not only is there the gorgeous bodycon midi's, the trend also offers us dip-hems and a range of more classic, day time dresses. It's no surprise that during the year of the Queens diamond jubilee, women's style may become more elegant, modest and generally a little bit classier (think Brie Van De kamp). Other trends to share the glory of the jubilee include peplums and a range of different collars. For the whole jubilee-esc look without having to go for the creatively designed shorts/tops/trousers/jumpers/bags/shoes smothered in the union jack print, here's a few things I'd try...

You can definitely see elements of the Queens staple garments in the white coat and pink blazer, but whether you're patriotic or not, they are lovely clothes!
