London Fashion Week Summary So Far

Hello, hello, hello! Although I'm spending the day in my pyjamas feeling sorry myself (instead of going to Bournemouth as was planned) I thought I should make the most of the day. There was absolutely no way I could not do a LFW themed post so now I've found the time; here it is! Remembering that fashion is forecasted two seasons ahead, and that the highstreet is completely taken and created from the more extravagant and 'artsy' world of designer, high-end fashion, here are my favourites so far as well as a quick summary of what they show us about spring 2013!

Summary

Combining all of these designs I would predict that spring 2013 will be full of print and florals, but not in the same style as we saw this year. Florals are taking a harsher, bolder turn in fashion now so forget pastels and dainty detail and start thinking big, bright and beautiful. Print-on-print is a definite yes and a very fun look to embrace, clashing colours are no longer a 'do not' of fashion.

The peplum trend will still be going strong which is very good news for me, but it looks like it'll also give way to softer, feminine shaping in tops and dresses mainly. Cut-out, leather and grunge pieces will still be 'in' although I expect the grunge trend will fade out over the next 6 months as the weather (hopefully) and mood of the country changes. Other themes include sports luxe and of course, my favourite, the trouser suit. Harsh lines and shapes, animal prints, sheer and shirts are all sticking around for the foreseeable future too. 

Holly Fulton styled the majority of her looks with round sunglasses and espadrilles and to my absolute delight, Clements Ribeiro used jelly shoes!

Just a really quick post today to show you what I'm wearing and update y'all on the latest happenings! This week has been super busy and I've had no time for blogging which is very sad but, pretty much unavoidable with the amount of work I now have to do. I also haven't shown you any of the outfits I've warn to school yet-admittedly they've been lacking in creativity since they are being chosen at 7am. I'm having a very boring/productive weekend, so far it has consisted of having to turn down a party (boo), spending hours on history work and I'm now about to pop into town to get folders and notebooks for school before babysitting all evening-always an excellent reminder of how old and 'mature' I'm getting (again, boo). Still, I'm looking forward to having some money! I'm torn between purchasing these RI shoes which are beyond beautiful but would use pretty much all my spare cash or both the trousers and the shirt, what do you guys suggest?

  Outfit Of The Day:

 I seem to have subconsciously dressed a little 'English-preppy' today, probably as a result of my oh so studious weekend activities. I bought this shirt early-mid summer this year and am now thrilled to be seeing checkered clothing returning to fashion for autumn/winter'12. I added my wintery ASOS skirt and belted it with well, the first belt I found really! And yes, I did team black with blue today but I don't believe those two colours cannot mix, and I'm not going to avoid my biker jacket today either! I finished the look with my cheap-and-cheerful brogues. Not the most stunning outfit ever but it'll do!

When the trouser suit made a reappearance in women's fashion mid-late summer this year, our gender was quickly divided. While tall, confident and fashion-involved women rubbed their perfectly manicured hands together with glee, the more well, (dare I say it) ordinary, of us were sceptical. Sure I could appreciate the divine print, silky materials and flattering yet empowering image the trouser suit offered the models in the magazines (and occasionally even those ridiculously trendy street style girls that are at the very core of my envy) but for me, the trouser suit was a wasted trend and so it was, and still is being avoided-and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way.

But good news! As ever, fashion is evolving by the day, and the trouser suit has given way to some trouser-suit offspring if you will, suitable for everyone. If the bold prints and clashing colours are not for you, simply team a neutral shirt with some tailored trousers and that could be your take on the boyish look that is so ripe this autumn. Or, if you prefer, counteract that engulfing vibe of the trouser suit with a shorts and shirt match instead! And if neither of those options satisfy you, why not follow the trend until you stumble upon the pyjama style instead and invest in a soft print shirt or an elegantly hung pair of silk trousers? The possibilities are endless, and you can bet we'll see the style evolve further this autumn/winter when covering up becomes a necessity rather than just a trend. 

However, do not forget what this look is all about; boyish glamour. In some ways, this trend is a reinforcement by women where respect and equality are concerned. After the pastels and lace of spring 2012 pass, and as we all slip back into our routine of work/education/general hard-work we want clothes that encourage and embrace the state of mind that women of the 21st century are, and will be, renowned for. Let the prints, cuts and materials remind the world that females are feminine and leave it to the definitive lines, contours and imagination enhancing pieces to set the tone for women and their style in 2012. This general vibe is being reinforced by the comeback of the oversized coat, high neck sweaters, leather and the undeniable success of flatforms and general boyish footwear to name but a few of autumn 2012's latest trends. 

But enough of my rambling, here are just a few accessible suggestions from the high-street that just ooze boyish glamour!

No7 Cream Blush Review

As you may already know due to my previous post, I indulged in a real blush a few days ago, as oppose to using an old No7 lipstick that belonged to my mum (It worked and looked decent I promise you!). I also said that I'd do a little review for you guys. You'll have to bare with me as I am most definitely not a beauty blogger, and am still yet to find a style of make up I feel comfortable in every day but I'll do my best!

I suppose the main points are colour, texture, easiness to use and of course whether it stays put. Well I am pleased to tell you I have been thoroughly impressed with all prior mentioned aspects of this blush. The colour blends easily and isn't too overpowering, it glides on and sits effortlessly on the skin and is yet to go patchy (or I am yet to notice it going patchy at least). Obviously I was in a pretty desperate situation regarding blusher (hence the fact I've been using lipstick for the past year or so) but this works just as well as the lipstick did and I can't see any room in my make up bag for a replacement any time soon. Hats off to No7! 

P.s. Apologies for the posts being few and far between at the moment, I started sixth form this week so it's been pretty hectic, although I have Fridays off all year now due to a rather pleasant timetable and am hoping to make that an official blogging day, so I should be back for a more substantial post tomorrow!

High-street Haul

My mother and I both had a few errands to run in our beautiful local city Bath today, and were we really going to come back empty handed? Obviously not. With sixth form just around the corner, I had a few bits and pieces to get as well as a few updates for my wardrobe. My beautiful mum kindly treated me to most of my purchases, so big shout out to momma Keeves!

As you can see I went on a slight black/leather binge but what can I say? Black is the new black! I actually went out with the idea of buying some new slipper shoes as mine have officially fallen apart (boohoo!) but couldn't find the perfect pair and then fell in love with these Brogues instead! I have to say, I haven't been in (let alone bought from) New Look in months after many failed attempts when shopping there before, but the one thing I always find myself going back to regarding New Look is their shoe department. While full of a lot of well...crap, they always have some hidden beauties for some even more beautiful prices. These were just £17.99! Oh and I'll be reviewing this cream blush by No7 for you after I've had a substantial trial period with it so keep your eyes peeled!

Leopard Joins The Race!

I thought I'd try out a super cheesy, blogger-type title for this post? Thoughts? Completely Awful? Yes, I thought so too. Moving on, I suppose you already know that I am not going to write about actual Leopards today (no offence to the Leopard community) but rather about their FAUX FUR. 

After a lifetime of being deemed everything from 'tacky' to 'slutty', Leopard print is making a steady comeback. I am not innocent when it comes to judging leopard print clothing, but, to be perfectly fair, it is only this year that designers have really worked with the print to take it from 'cheap' to 'classy'-whether that is by the materials, styles, or cuts used. I am yet to discover an 100% leopard dress I'd wear, and jeans and tops are a still a bit of a no-go zone for me personally, but the selection of leopard print footwear out there on the high-street is quickly expanding, and I genuinely am falling for leopard print! 

So have the designers of 2012 done enough to resurrect leopard print and put it's shamed past behind us? Or will you be staying clear of this particular trend in the hope it won't last?
